The Center of Infectious Disease Control and Prevention (ICDC Center), is bacterial sub center of the Center for Human Pathogen Collection of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CHPC, China CDC,www.nprc.org.cn/chpc). CHPC is the first national preservation center for human pathogenic microorganism designated by National Health Commission of China. ICDC Center is also the bacterial Center of the national science and technology resource sharing service platform - National Pathogen Resource Center (NPRC, www.nprc.org.cn).
ICDC Center undertakes the task of preserving the corresponding bacteria (viruses) species and samples. Receive, identify, and centrally store and manage the species or samples of bacteria (viruses) according to the regulations, and provide the bacteria (viruses) or samples to units legally engaged in the experimental activities of pathogenic microbes, and offer confirmation of the national standard bacteria (viruses). To play the role of national level Preservation Center in the field of preservative technology research and professional work training. ICDC Center also detection novel species and identification of unknown and rare pathogens.
According to the management rules of CHPC, ICDC center integrates the resources of the existing pathogenic microorganism, and centrally standardize the preservation and management of all kinds of pathogenic microorganism, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, Rickettsia, mycoplasma, chlamydia, spirulae and actinomycetes. At the same time, the resources of biological specimens are also managed and preserved. It will play a role in the protection, sharing and sustainable utilization of pathogenic microorganisms (virus) and related resources.
